Reforestation in Rio de Janiero with Gaia Technologies

According to a new report by Reuters, deforestation has dropped in Brazil by 34% in the first half of 2023, an incredible feat and milestone. As environmental policy and funding ramps up, more trees can remain in the ground. However, despite this positive trajectory, 2,649 square km (1,023 square miles) of rainforest were still cleared in the region in the first half of the year- an area 3x the size of New York City.

It will take a concerted effort of keeping forests in the ground on one end, and continuing to plant and regenerate more from the other to pave a pathway to mitigating climate change.
