On the verge of entering the midway point of the year, we take one last bird’s eye view on the eventful month of May, which was loaded with progress, giant strides, and overall positive takeaways. Of course, you can catch all of that in our May newsletter, but not before getting a quick roundup of our May Project Operators (PO) and Validators.

From a community-based NGO helping vulnerable communities achieve climate-resilient economies in India, to a youth-led initiative fighting climate change in a refugee camp in Kenya, our Project Operators bring a truly global perspective to the OFP Community. Our new Validators include a partner organization with AI-powered remote sensing technology and analytics in Southern Africa, an award-winning organization from Switzerland providing deep research and Earth observation data to climate projects, and finally a Gold Standard-accredited company with a combined 100+ years of experience in diverse climate-oriented fields. Read their full biographies below!

Project Operators

Mambo Heritage

Founded and based in Kenya, Mambo Heritage develops equitable climate change solutions driven by anthropology and blockchain technology. Let’s Green the Future Trust (LGF)

Motivated by the need to increase sustainable practices and education on the environment and climate change, LFG, a Zimbabwean NGO, develops, implements, and promotes sustainable community-driven initiatives around Zimbabwe. The NGO launched the Greening Kuwadzana Project (GKP), a tree-planting movement in the Kuwadzana District in Zimbabwe, in partnership with Kuwadzana Press and Duri Green Finger. The project aims to engage the community to plant trees on over 10 hectares of land. As part of OFP’s PO network, LFG will leverage OFP’s Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) platform to transparently validate and immutably store data from the GKP.

Woodlands Future Trust

Woodlands 2000 Trust (W2T) is a community-based conservation organization in Kisaju, Kajiado District. Founded in 2001 by the late Dr. Maxwell Kinyanjui and Martin Dunford, W2T promotes indigenous tree growth all around Kenya by providing afforestation and allied services to private entrepreneurs, farmers, landowners, and other investors involved in the tree outplantation industry. In 21 years, the organization has secured over 2 hectares of land and has successfully established a flourishing dryland woodlot of over 50 species of indigenous trees and plants.

W2T will use OFP’s Measurement, Reporting, and Verification technology to transparently measure and validate the growth and progress of their activities on their 2.5-hectare woodlot. The collected information will be stored immutably on the Near blockchain for easy access by investors. The open-source nature of OFP’s platform will allow W2T to take advantage of carbon financing opportunities, and scale their forestation projects and activities.
